I love my friends.

You see I had a post started this evening after having just put the kids to bed. I got myself a bowl of chocolates to eat while I blogged and was going to name the entry "Chocolate and the kids are in bed". Then I got a phone call from Raven who had been trying to get a hold of me today to see if we could go swimming tonight. I was bad and had not called her to let her know that hubby was working and I could not go. Oops. So she said "Can I come over?". To which my reply was "Of course!". "Great I am across the street. I'll be right there." and there she was. So my post languished while we talked for two and a half hours in my cat infested house. (She's allergic to cats by the way). Instead of swiming we talked and had tea and I showed her my new computer which she oohed and aahed at, having only heard we had gotten one. She doesn't come over very often because she's allergic to cats and I refuse to give mine up. I've had them for 9 to almost 10 years now and am very attached to them. I am also attached to her as a friend so do my best to accomodate her when she's here. Anyways that was a ramble-blah!
So she showed me a few things that I can do for linking things to my blog which I am trying to do and I hope you enjoy them.
My original blog entry was going to be about how after I calmed down I was able to help Bear with his homework and not have a major fight with my husband. I was also going to make a list of all the things I do not like about Hubby and a list of all the things I do like about Hubby. You see I really do love my husband (I would not have married him otherwise), but as in any general relationship there are problems. I let a pet peeve grow into a major problem when it shouldn't have. One of the things Raven did for me was clarify things and put some things into perspective. She is the only person I know who can understand the male brain and actually translate those processes into female speak. She claims she is not female, that she just looks like one. I don't believe her but she is really good at cross gender issues that I would not have had a clue what to do with. Such as telling your husband all you want is a sounding board to vent and not that you want him to solve your problems immediately. This worked until Hubby pointed out that if I bring him my problems he has to solve them because that is how he works. So what I am doing now is actually getting female friends and using them as sounding boards before bringing the problem to my husband to solve. You see I am used to trying to help solve problems but I have come to understand one thing about the male mindset. They don't want help. They want to do it all themselves and look the hero for solving the problem. Now I just have to figure out a way to get Hubby to solve the problem - how I have already decided it should be solved. That's my problem. Yes, Hubby reads my blog, but he already knows this from watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding anyways so whatever. He actually likes some chick flicks. Shh don't tell okay! Oops too late.
Okay time for bed. Wow, I didnt play WoW tonight. That's a first - a night all to myself and I did not waste it on a mindless computer game. Hmm I might have to do this more often. Yeah this is why I love my friends. And I have not even gotten to talk about my other friend (hence forth known as Star). I have good friends. I think I'll keep them. They are so worth it!
