The cabinets have been painted and I am now sitting in a paint fumey house ugh! Still it could have been worse our Landlady could have kept insisting on Oil Based Paint instead of Latex. Plus we have no cabinet doors again because they will take longer to set. Which is fine with me as long as we get them back. The new colour looks pretty good if I don't say so myself.
So while the painting was being done the kids and I translocated to Grandma and Grandpa's farm. I had planned on being out there for four to five days but then looking at the schedule realized that I had to be in the city for an appointment for Bear early tomorrow morning. Hence sitting in the paint fumey house, cold (because the windows are open) and a sick child whining at me that her tummy hurts. This is because she puked up in the car on the ride home tonight. Sigh life likes to throw a million things at me once it seems. Too bad I can only juggle around 3 or 4 at a time.
The new bogcoat of the title is all because of my dad and his old housecoat. My mom had given me some money so that I could pick up some fleece to make him a new one. I was able to pick a lot of burgundy fleece that turned into a really nice housecoat if I don't say so myself. But.... before I could make the housecoat I had to rip apart the old one. Not really thinking that the pattern would be difficult, after all I make lots of bogcoats, I didn't pay too much attention to the pieces. Then I cut out the pieces that I thought I would need only to discover when I was sewing that I should really go back and look at the original pieces again. So I did and found that the inside hood lining would be needed after all. Well not really but I wanted to try it because if I could do it in the housecoat then the bogcoat that I wanted to make would be really neat.
So I did the housecoat to my dad's specifications which included the little loop at the neck so that it could be hung up on a hook. I also added a foot to the length and onto the arms because my dad likes the long arms on his coats (must be where I got it from :)). The material for the bogcoat is an interesting one and I really like it. It is a homespun burgundy wool that has a slightly floral pattern embroidered on it. I can't do the new pattern justice just describing but I really like it and even though it is more work I think it is really sharp looking. Obviously the first one I did would have some flaws but I think as a hooded unlined bogcoat it works really well. Just for you Pixie when Raven gets back from True Realm I will have her photograph both the inside and the outside of it.
As I was working on the pattern I kept thinking when I get back I have to babble and show it to Raven but.... she's in Carbondale Illinois right now. Sigh so I will have to wait until next week when she is back from having her absolutely fabulous weekend. I hope she is having fun :) Maybe next year I will be able to get to True Realm. Still all in all until the car trip home where I had to clean up puke the last couple of days have been pretty good.
