Fun with Cloak Making

To be honest it would be more accurate to say Fun with making cloaks while a toddler plays with the sewing machine and keeps taking the thread out and changing the tension and making the needle stop moving and...

Well you get the picture. Every time I had to pin something or cut a piece and move away from the sewing machine I would come back to find something else awry at the machine. I can't really blame Eyes for she is in the curious phase and has to see what it is that Mommy is doing. At home if Daddy walks away from his computer he usually comes back to find a lot of baby gibberish waiting for him at his keyboard. She wants to see what is so fun with the toys that Mommy and Daddy and the other kids use all the time. If the kids forget to put the Wii things away...

As I am sure you have figured out by now I had gone to the farm for about 3 days and came back yesterday because I had a Doctor's appointment. Otherwise I would probably have stayed longer to get more cloaks done. As is I got 5 items cut out and sewn while finishing off 2 items that needed fixing and clasps sewn on. All in all if my count is correct I have completed 11 items for Quad War. Which unfortunately I won't be going to since we have a huge family Reunion on Hubby's side to go to that weekend. So Raven will be selling everything by herself this year. When I was finishing up yesterday morning I tried to make sure that all the items were sell able as is. So if I only had the opportunity to drop off the cloaks to Raven she would only need to put price tags on them. Though if possible I would like to try and put a trim on one or two and clasps on at least one of them. Hopefully after our swim next week Raven and I can over the cloaks and get them all ready for Quad War.

My life other than that has been mostly trying to keep the house as cool as possible and the computer from over heating. Oh and to try to kick these darn colds that seem to hit every time I or one of the kids start to feel better. Out at the farm Bear couldn't go to VBS on the last day because the poor guy was so sick. So he missed out on the BBQ but his sister was kind enough to bring his crafts and treat bag home for him. My dad was also pretty sick and even though he had plans of me helping to butcher some of the chickens it fell through due to the sickness. Which in way I am thankful for since it meant I got more sewing done. Though if at all possible I do want to help them butcher some of the young roosters since they have too many of them. I hate dirt but I like working with chicken guts... weird huh!?

Last but not least Auntie Ski is moving and gave us some of her food stuffs. Things like frozen chickens and ice cream(which the kids will enjoy on this hot hot day today). The one thing that got me really excited was the big bottle of Mexican Vanilla Extract. Whoo hooo! I am thinking I want to make some muffins or cookies now. Except I don't want to turn on the oven... I guess I will have to wait until late tonight if I am going to do any of that hahahaha.

The one sad thing is that our cat go out when I was gone and she even though she came back one night Hubby wasn't able to get her back in. So Hubby is going to call the pound to see if she got taken there but honestly she gets so freaked out by people when she's outside I can't see her having been taken in. Last night I left the light on out front with her food and water in the hopes she would show up. Alas she did not but I am not giving up hope yet. I really don't want to have to say goodbye to another one of our family members. Smiles is still upset about our first cat dying.

Update: My husband had left some clothes in the dryer and I told him he should deal with them before they get moldy. So what does he do when he's complaining of the heat - he puts them in the dryer! I took them out and hung them outside to dry. Sigh! I know he meant well but... I just have to laugh I suppose.
