Family Reunion

I got back yesterday evening from 5 days of camping. We had gone down to a campsite in the next province after a 7 and half hour drive. The baby was remarkably well behaved during both trips there and back. Of course she slept a lot more than she normally would during the day so when we arrived home she was wired and wouldn't sleep til a couple of hours after her normal bedtime. Still all in all it was a fun camping trip. I even decided to make a poem for it lol.

Camping is an adventure
that should be left outside
With the outhouses so far away
that you have to run and hide
Oh how I long for the pleasure
of burnt food on a stick
and grimy hands full of dirt
and that new blouse they do pick
Sand that finds inconvenient places
to make you shift and frown
As the sun reddened skin
must be slathered down
But camping is an adventure
that should be endured
at least once a year by everyone
so no one becomes inured
So thank you nature for allowing me
to feed the mosquitoes and other bugs
As I try to leave my smallest footprint
on your greatest of all green rugs

Most of all it was lots of fun and the kids really enjoyed playing with their cousins and being spoiled by their Auntie Ski and great Aunts and Uncles. Nana and Grandad also spoiled them too. Smiles was funny on the ride home yesterday where she was asked who her favorite Aunt was and she started to say someone other than Auntie Ski then stopped and looked at her before saying "um you Auntie Ski!"

I suppose I should clarify things a bit. I really enjoyed the days and evenings of the camping trip but I really could have done without the mornings. It would have been better if the kids had not gotten sick. All three of them on differing days had something wrong. The first morning both girls had the runny poops (yes Nana I know it actually diarrhea but I think this is funnier to say) so bad I needed to do a laundry run that afternoon. Same thing the next morning. The third morning wasn't too bad except it was too early. Though I did get a really nice walk in with Smiles before everyone else woke up and coffee was on when we got back :) The fourth morning.... ugh. How to describe waking up soaking wet with concerns that the kids are dry and not finding that so. Oh and I should mention it was also too early for me too. Then having to get the baby and Bear into dry clothes and into the trailer because they were sleeping in wet things. Eyes wasn't as bad because I had put her in a second set of clothes and the outer ones were mainly the wet ones. But the Bear had thrown up in the middle of the night and got his pillow soaked and rolled off of the air mattress to sleep in a pool of water. Sigh, waking him up was not fun but necessary.

So today has been laundry day and all the sleeping bags have been washed and hung up to dry. The tent is still rolled up because Hubby refuses to put it up thinking it will rain as soon as he does so. I think he's... anyways I am annoyed and the kids have been playing Wii with the neighbour kids for about 2 hours now. Later I will need to do a grocery run but not yet. I still want to relax a little bit and recover from my vacation.
