Envy and Sick Babies
Right about now Raven should be on the flight to Australia to visit a friend down there. The only two places in the world that I have really and truly wanted to visit are Australia and Scotland. So of course I am very envious right now of Raven who has been to one of them and is going to the other one. Sigh eventually I will get to them someday.
Not today unfortunately - not with a sick baby. Everybody has come down with a cold in the household and that means the baby too. So Eyes has the horrible sounding cough that should it continue or if she develops a fever I will take her to the doctor. Otherwise she is fine and smiley and happy and sleepier than usual. Heck she has only been around for what 2 and a half months but I still know how much sleep she should be getting. Mainly because it impacts on how much sleep I get and how much work I can get done around the house. LOL.
Anyways have fun in the sun Babe! I hope you have a great time swimming with the dolphins Raven and I will see you when you get back :)

Templates
So it should be obvious that I have changed my template and have been screwing with the colours. I am not sure I like them yet but will give them a try. If you do not like them lemme know and I will consider your comments. You see the reason why I changed the template was that whenever I do a quiz half the text gets lost when I post the results. And most of them are interesting enough that I do not want people to have to guess what they are saying.
Anyways on to life scenarios. Yesterday was a busy day for me and all in all a really good one. First off I ended up babysitting Raven's two boys while she took her daughter to a Confirmation session. The boys were well behaved (for the most part - I only had a few incidents with C-man climbing things he should not and Blue Bunny taking things from his brother and pooping in his pants) and Eyes was awake the entire time I was over there. I stayed for lunch (delicious Italian Wedding Soup with just the right amount of spinach!) and then left to go home and take a nap.
Then we all went back to Raven's house to drop the kids off while Hubby and I went out for supper. Yummy Greek food was devoured and because it was Saturday night we got there in time for the belly dancer. It was really cute to watch the dancer try to teach a 4 year old girl how to belly dance. The kids had a good time at Raven's and want to go visit again. They liked the Crepes Suzette that Raven made them for dessert. Alas I was so stuffed that I had to pass on that yummy dessert. So other than Eyes being accidentally stepped on once by the C-man the kids survived the night as well as the adults. Hubby and I then came back home to put the kids to bed (all three of them) and then eventually headed there ourselves. Today is supposed to grocery shopping and maybe swimming but I have a feeling it will be curling up inside the house with a warm blanket type of day.

Books
I ended up going to a book store the other day and picked up the last two books in a series for Smiles and pre-ordered one for Bear. Okay here's the story. On Smiles birthday she received a series called the Rainbow Magic where there are seven Rainbow fairies that two girls have to help save. Then I came across another series called the Weather Fairies and ordered it from the book club. Alas I only received 5 out of the 7 books in the series. Grrr. It gets worse. Nana (the same one who gave Smiles the original series) found and bought the third series of Jewel Fairies. Unfortunately she only found 6 out of the 7 books in that series. Sigh! Now Bear has gotten into a series called the Beast Quest and has 5 out of the 6 books. There might actually be more but you see the 6th book won't be in stores until March 1st so I think there's only 6 in the series. So instead of receiving this book as a reward for not sucking his fingers for a week Hubby will have to take him to go pick out a different book instead.
Anyways I went to the book store (yes I know I am trying to go second hand for most things but these books won't be found in second hand stores) and found the last two in the Weather Fairies series. I also found that the last book in the Jewel Fairies series is at other stores in the city so I will have to go there soon.
Our third child is also fascinated by a book. It's a toy plush frog that you can open up and read the story inside. Eyes goes big eyed as soon as you give it to her and does her darnedest to get it in her mouth. It is very cute to watch. She still has trouble with her hand control but has switched a ring from one hand to the other. But with her brother home sick right now I should probably feed her soon and then see if I can get a nap in. Later!

Why is this so appropriate!!
The Fool can signal a new beginning or change of direction - one that will guide you onto a path of adventure, wonder and personal growth. He also reminds you to keep your faith and trust your natural responses. If you are facing a decision or moment of doubt, the Fool tells you to believe in yourself and follow your heart no matter how crazy or foolish your impulses may seem. Considering that my character Grey¨Panther (where I got the name from) had this as a major flaw or hubris it makes me laugh. Alot!

Salsa and Fruit Salad day
Amazingly Eyes slept for 8 hours in a row!!! Woot! This meant that I did not need a nap this morning. I wanted one but didn't need it. After all I got 7 hours of sleep uninterrupted. Salsa! Salsa has been made and is currently marinating in a large pot. Mmmmmm! I love the smell of Cilantro. Okay lemme back up a bit.
I have been craving Salsa for over three weeks now. Ever since New Years I have wanted Salsa and not just any Salsa but Blankshield style Salsa. So since Eyes did not nap this morning like she usually does and you know after that long sleep I am not surprised I looked at the clock and said "hmm no nap for me but salsa can be started!" So I started chopping up the green onions, cucumber, tomatoes, Cilantro and Banana Peppers. Unfortunately I did have to stop my happy hacking to go pick Smiles up from school.
When we got home she wanted to make something too and so started writing down a recipe for her salad. Thankfully it was all fruit this time and not things Broccoli or peanut butter. So she (I did all the cutting) made a fruit salad that consisted of
1 Banana
1 Apple Pear (we like these and besides you get two fruits in one!)
1 Orange
1 cup of Strawberries
1 cup of Blueberries
Of course I had to run out to the freezer in the garage to get the strawberries that were out there. My mother froze alot of strawberries and this is even after all the ones she routinely gives away each year. You know what I don't mind. It means we can have strawberries in the middle of winter :)

Hope is all I got!
A new bathing suit was found for both Raven and I within the first half an hour of the shopping experience. Which was good since it meant we could then go for cinnamon bun and cider with another friend who met us at the mall. I even dragged Eyes with me and she gave us eyes meaning she woke up and didn't sleep the entire trip out. See if she goes out in the evening I have to be cruel and wake her whenever we get to our destination otherwise I will be up til 2 am later that night. As it is I find myself in an unusual dilemma. She will sleep for 5-6 hours if she stays up til 2 am but if put to bed earlier will wake up somewhere between 2-4 hours. Sigh. I want the 6 hour sleep jag and the early bedtime. This way I can go to bed at somewhere between 10pm to midnight and get enough sleep. I also decided that once she is actually sleeping through the night - no breaks - I will move back into my own bed next to my husband. Until then I will have the sounds of a snuffling baby to lull me to sleep.
Bear and Smiles have been really good around Eyes and absolutely adore her. They both want to play with her, pick her up and sing to her. Which makes me happy since then I can occasionally get a break and do things like - laundry. Or sometimes even the computer. Smiles has even decided that she needs to know how to change Eyes' diaper and you know what Yay!!!! All the more power to her. I think that's awesome and I think I might insist Bear learns too. He tried once earlier but I think got discouraged because neither Daddy or I were able to help him. So that will be my teaching agenda the next week. Oh that and teaching Smiles proper phone etiquette. So far she has only answered the phone when Daddy has been calling, but I need to make sure she understands what to do when it is not Daddy.
So cross your fingers I am hoping to go to bed soon and not wake up for another 5-6 hours. Later.

Progress
All the kids are growing and this makes me happy. It also makes me cringe because it means shopping for more clothes and even though I want to buy new I am going to try and buy used. I don't really like second hand stores. Nothing comes in my size and I hate shopping to begin with. At least at a store like Addition Elle I am more likely to find things in my size. Still this is for the kids so it shouldn't be as bad. And if I do make a mistake in size I can probably trade it off to Star or Raven for their kids. All three of us and a few others are trying to be more environmentally conscious and are trying to not buy anything new. Exceptions are made for some things like food, feminine hygiene products and things like that, you know, essentials. I don't know how well I will do since I was looking forward to actually buying new clothes for myself this year. Oh well if I have to I'll buck up and do it. After all I haven't been buying myself new clothes for at least a few years already. (It's that whole dislike shopping thing!) Well I will make an exception for a new bathing suit. Mine kinda got strecthed during the pregnancy. hehe.
Anyways Smiles is being very cute right now. She is reading to Eyes and it's a frog story. She's also been wrapping her up like a potato (I would say it looks more like a mummy). Eyes has been hitting development stages as well. I already mentioned that she is smiling now. She also has been getting stronger head control and likes looking around. She will turn her head and look for the person talking to her, especially if it is me or Smiles. Sometimes Daddy as well. She does look at Bear but usually only if he is holding her. Her hand coordination has been improving too. She now tries to push things in her mouth or if she accidentally grabs her blanket into the mouth it goes. Which makes me happy to watch. She also is anticipating the games we play, like This little piggy with her toes. All in all she is now 6 kg or 13 pounds 3 ounces and 59 cm long. I still don't have a baby book or a sling for her but those should be rectified soon. That's one reason why I am blogging today so I can have some facts down and can transfer them later when I do get the book.
Other than that life has been tiring. Eyes went back to a 2 am bedtime for me after her immunizations on Wednesday. Though she is starting to sleep around 5 - 6hours at night now. So if I can keep the 6 hour sleep jag (meaning one long sleep period and then another after a feed)and reschedule her bedtime back to 10 pm I'll be a happy camper. Wow sleep really is a nice thing to get every now and then.

Advice
Do not take your infant for an immunization shot before taking her to the doctor's. Or if you do remember to put Tylenol, a bottle or a soother in the diaper bag for her. Man I need a nap.
Oh just a query why does broth fill you up when it is mostly made up of water which does not satisfy hunger? What makes the broth a food? My mind is curious but lazy enough not to look up the answer on Google.

PhotoShoot Survivors
11 kids and one brave photographer traversed the perils of finding poses and angles that could capture the images of beauty and grace demanded by the glaring hordes of parents. Pictures were snapped and children laughed and even the parents applauded and smiled at the happy scenario enfolding. Then after all the chaos ----- silence! The photographer placed her camera carefully away and parents herded their children slowly out the door. Until the next photo shoot bwahaahaahaaaaa!
Star was the intrepid photographer and very brave to have done so with as I said the eleven children now gracing four families. When we started with the four children born in 2000 I do not think we would anticipate the chaos that would ensue when we continued to breed and expand our individual broods. Now with three families of three and one of two we have a total of eleven children under the age of eight. My daughter Eyes being the youngest. All of us have said that we do not anticipate any more children on the way and for me at least I know that I will keep that promise to myself. Maybe. Even so it was a definite adventure for us today and amazingly the kids were very well behaved. A few pictures even had most of the kids smiling and looking at the camera.
I am constantly amazed at Star's ability with the camera and I am sure that we will have some beautiful pictures soon. Well as soon as Star has time to process them and photoshop them and send them out that is. I will eagerly anticipate them but Star no pressure, send them out whenever you have time babe. I know how busy you are! Have fun tonight dancing too, eh!

Computer Problems
We have two of them.
That is the problem.
And we still do not have enough to satisfy everyone in the house. Hubby will be on one, I will want the other and then the kids will want their turn as well. Sigh! So Hubby and I have been having a few tiffs over housework and computer time. One of these days things will figure themselves out.
Oh and I have a sick baby. Not deathly ill just a cold but I have a sneaking suspicion that I may be coming down with it too. Of course Hubby is just getting over one so it is not really a surprise. I am not sure I want to go out with the baby tonight. I had been planning on going to Raven's tonight and maybe even going swimming. Hmmmm.
In other news Hubby got a new online game that we have become addicted to. Lord of the Rings Online is a lot of fun. Too bad I only get to play for 20 minutes at a time. Or wait til Eyes goes down for the night and that cuts into my sleep time. Which is very precious right now and very limited.
So yeah we have computer problems. Especially since I can not totally figure out Vista and it is bugging me.

Skating
Yesterday Raven got Star and myself to go skating with our respective broods. So there were 8 children to 3 adults. Bear and Smiles were both eager to go skating again after we finished and I think I would be inclined to do so again sometime this winter. I might even don a pair of skates and go teeter around on the ice. After all I did borrow Star's skates that fit me perfectly and were the most comfortable skates I have ever worn!!! I then went out on the ice and bravely went around the rink. Wobbling all the way but enjoying myself immensely. Man my ankles hurt today and I wasn't out for very long. Of course it's been over twenty years since I last went skating and my balance is off. Way off! After giving birth three times my center of balance is worse than ever. I expect if I practice though I will get better. At least I did not take any spills on the ice yesterday!!!! That's my bragging point for the day.
My bragging point about Smiles is that we made Inukshuks (I'm not sure if this the correct spelling. It's the Inuit stones that they stack up and use for markers.) out of snow chunks that Daddy had provided after shoveling the walk. Nana had done a few of them up in her front yard out of real stones but I like ours better. These ones Smiles could stack herself! We did this after we went for our walk today. Despite not feeling good we went out anyways and I really liked it. Bear helped Daddy with the walks instead of coming with us. Oh well!
School is tomorrow!!!! Yay and Oh No!!! Yay because I will get some quiet time (maybe) and Oh No because it means I will have to adhere to the school schedule and get the kids up and out the door on time tomorrow morning. Sigh! Oh and I guess this means I should make them their lunches and snacks.

Just a quick brag
I wanted to post this before I forgot again.
Bear read something upside down!!!!
Yeah I know earth shattering news! But to me it was very impressive. Reading is Bear's worst subject or skill so this was awesome to see!

Happy New Years!
So the New Year was rung in with mild shouts of woot! as we played Apples to Apples. Otherwise it was a pretty tame evening. Big D ended up snoring on our couch since we had to give him a ride to and from places that evening and the next. The kids were taken over to Raven's that evening including Bird - Big d's little girl. Wow was that a noisy car ride to Raven's. I amused myself by telling the kids that they had to listen to Raven and Blankshield even if they were told to go run around in a snowbank. Or fly to the stars to get light for Raven's house. They were suitably outraged and laughing as they explained to me that the sun was a star and you can't fly to them without a rocket, etc.... I am so thankful for my friends and probably do not tell them enough times how much I appreciate them. Same as my husband.
So Eyes these last few days has been pulling a Baby K on me. Lemme explain. My friend from Newfoundland who was babysitting Baby K was usually trying to find the baby's shoes whenever they walked to school. Baby K was notorious for getting her shoes and socks off making K have to come back some days looking for them. Eyes was given some socks and a pair of slippers for Christmas. Warm comfy pink slippers that I have been finding underneath her bouncy chair. LOL. So she has been pulling a Baby K on me. Smiles and Bear have been very good mostly. They have gotten alot better ever since I have been insisting on going for a walk every day. That has been making a huge difference for me.
Happy New Years!
